The memorial plaque, which we unveiled to the academic community on January 24, 2024, is the work of sculptor Radek Mužík. It commemorates the activities of Assoc. Prof. Anna Grmelová (1947-2012) and Assoc. Prof. Josef Grmela (1942-2020), who significantly contributed to the development of the Department of English Language and Literature during the post-November period. Assoc. Prof. Anna Grmelová, who led the department from 1993 to 2009, among other achievements, initiated the establishment of a specialized study room for English language and literature in 1995. You can view photographs from the unveiling of the memorial plaque here.
In connection with the recent tragic events at the Faculty of Arts, there have been several changes in the operation of libraries and library services. All libraries in the main building will remain closed until at least the end of January 2024. Books and notebooks can be returned at the CU FA Library at Celetná 20 with extended opening hours. In the Library of the Institute of Latin and Greek Studies of the Faculty of Arts a temporary reading room for interlibrary loan services has been operating since 8 January.
All loans have an extended deadline until 1 March 2024. However, this does not apply to those that were due to be returned before December 21, 2023. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the CU FA Library by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. More information can be found here.
